Raising pygmy goats
It has been considered a very daunting task to raise the pygmy goats with utmost care. In spite of their miniature stature, it is worth surprise that the dwarfs are very hardy in nature. Before you plan for raising them in your farm or field, you must ponder over the habitat of the goats, their feeding and above all, the facility of healthy breeding. In fact, you can harness the gain from these goats with certain steps required to follow with interest.
The foremost thing is the shelter of the pygmy goats where they are ought to live. The habitat should be full of green leaves, grasses and required pastures that will lead to a healthy and fresh environment. It must be fenced with a hard wire or barbed for the safety of the dwarfs. The shelter should be far from the other carnivores like big cats or dogs. Also, you must have a raised platform of wood or cement to sleep otherwise they might become pale in wet conditions.
Secondly, the pigmy goats must be fed in the right manner and the food must be nutritious for them. They require calcium, phosphorous as minerals; proteins and vitamins for the proper growth of their body and bones. The diet must contain wholesome grains not grounded, grasses, tree leaves and barks, hays and accurate pastures so that it may help you in milking and taking meat. If you are raising the goats for the purpose of milk, meat and fiber, you must make them healthy enough to fetch you everything according to your wishes.
Thirdly, there should be facility of adequate breeding of does with the healthier bucks. You may take the bucks from the market for the purpose of breeding. It is a must for raising the dwarfs. Fourthly, you should take care of their health. The goats should be vaccinated regularly so that they are not prone to the fatal skin or bone diseases. Lack of minerals or balanced diet may cause problem to them. General grooming is also required that consists of brushing the coats and trimming hooves.
The last but not the least, the drinking water must be fresh and pure as they are allergic to dirty and filthy water. The container of water must be washed regularly in order to keep them fit to live in the given accommodations. So, raising the goats is not so typical.
